Synopsis: Myla Lewis is a quasi-demon girl who loves two things: kicking ass and kicking ass. When souls want a trial by combat for their right to enter Heaven, they go up against her in Purgatory’s Arena, and she hasn’t lost a battle yet.
But when the demons start to act weird, even for demons, and the King of the Demons, Armageddon, shows up at Myla’s school, she knows that things are changing and it’s not looking good.
My Review: In my reviews the first thing I usually do is tell you what the book is generally about but I am going to skip that part today. Hell that’s what the synopsis is for. For this review I would just simply like to tell you about my experience with this book. So here it is.. the truth is when I first started this book I was really excited about it. Then about 25% of the way in I began to think that maybe I wasn’t going to like it as much as I had hoped. At times it just felt looong. DO NOT LET THAT DISCOURAGE YOU! I perservered and I have to say that I am really glad I did. This book is kick ass just like it’s kick ass heroine Myla. She is smart, funny, sarcastic, and just plain bad ass. I loved reading about her and all her antics. For me Myla is what made the book so good. Yes there is a lot of action going on and other characters that are awesome (Walker and prince Lincoln) and are easy to like but Myla’s attitude and all the stunts she pulled had me laughing out loud at times. I, myself, personally believe that if a book can make you have an emotional reaction while reading it rather that be to laugh, cry, or whatever then the author has definitely done something right. I must be honest and say that there are some parts in the beginning I wish had been edited out to make the book get going a bit faster. I recommend that even if you start to feel like you don’t really know where the book is headed and you think you may put it down..DON’T. Once things really get started the time you put into it proves to be worth it. I am really looking forward to getting my hands on the second installment Angelbound Scala.
So here is the thing.. I wanted to wait until I was completely finished reading Angelbound before I done the reveal for the second book. But at 53% along I decided to go ahead. The first book is turning out to be pretty kick ass so I am sure that Scala will not disappoint. So without further delay here is the amazing cover for Angelbound Scala!
So I have great news for all you fans of The Alpha Girl Series by Aileen Erin. I just recently finished reading the first book in the series, Becoming Alpha. If you took the time to read my review you know that it is a wonderful book with an awesome, unique heroine. If you haven’t read the first book, I strongly suggest it. I really enjoyed it and I think you will too. Now, as for the highly anticipated second novel, or at least in my case it is. I have something wonderful to share with my fellow readers. So without further delay.. the cover reveal for Avoiding Alpha!
Alright guys there you have it.. absolutely beautiful. I am so excited for the release of this new book. I can’t wait to continue the incredible journey with Tess and the rest of the gang! Stay tuned for updates on the upcoming release date and much more.
Becoming Alpha is about a girl named Tessa that already has a pretty tough time fitting in because she is.. different.. but the kids at her school like to call her freaky Tessa because every time she touches someone she gets visions, in turn causing her to be isolated. Her parents decide to move from LA to a small town in Texas because they believe getting Tessa closer to the family she has never known will help her find her place in the world… that is before one night, one boy, and one bite. Now Tessa must find her place in whole new world she never even knew existed. Although I admit at first it started off a bit slow it did not take long for things to pick up. I found that Becoming Alpha was full of adventure, love, and friendship and from that moment when I finally got pulled in (and it didn’t take long) I was engrossed until the last page. I want to take a moment to talk characters. Tessa: the things I like about her. First, she’s not afraid to say what’s on her mind. She had an entire family, the Hoel family, against her and even in the midst of total choas she still managed to have a raw humor that I couldn’t help but love her for. Example: “One girl against three ass-Hoels.” or using words like “shitacular.” I really enjoyed the way the author would have her make little remarks like these. I felt it kept things fun. Dastien: I don’t have much to say on him besides I wish they made men like that in the real world. I liked his character and don’t get me wrong I rooted for him and Tessa the entire time but come on, can we say way to good to be true! Meredith: Tessa’s first true friend and that is exactly what she was.. a true friend, and funny in a sarcastic sort of way and to me that’s why they hit it off so well. Now last but not at all least Axel, Tessa’s older brother. Out of all the character relationships I favored this one the most. I absolutely loved how close he and Tessa were. Axel shows all throughout the book that he would do anything for his baby sister and it is so touching. Having an older brother that is not with me anymore I guess made me connect with the bond that Tessa and Axel shared just that much more. The author done a wonderful job on character/relationship development. My final thoughts: I will certainly be looking to read more of Alpha Girl. It was a most enjoyable story!
